Jesse James Rutherford, also known mononymously as Jesse, is an American singer and actor who is a member of the band The Neighbourhood. He is the band's lead singer.
Jesse landed a role in the film Life or Something Like it in 2002, after acting in commercials as a child. He also starred in the movie Bundy and in the episode Marauders of Star Trek:Enterprise.
Jesse released a solo mixtape entitled Truth Hurts, Truth Heals in 2011. The next year, his career with alternative band The Neighbourhood began when they released their debut single, Female Robbery, followed by Sweater Weather. Sweater Weather later became number one on the Billboard Alternative Songs chart in June of 2013.
In February, Jesse began to release solo music on a Soundcloud account entitled "The Factoury".
Jesse released his first book, &, in early 2016. The book is filled with pictures of himself which were taken by photographer Jessie English. For the photoshoot, Jesse stated he simply used clothes from his closet and took photos until he had none left.
On October 26th, 2017, Rutherford released a single titled Born to Be Blonde, hinting at a solo debut. On November 3rd, he released another single titled Drama and confirmed the album's name, art, and release date. On November 9th, he released the rest of the album's tracks on YouTube. The album, titled &, was officially released the next day.
In August of 2018, Jesse posted snippets of new music on his Instagram story. On October 19th, 2018, he tweeted that he had been in the studio with Lana Del Rey, confirming an upcoming collaboration.
On December 17th, 2018, Jesse announced that he was going on his first solo tour in 2019.
Personal Life Edit
Jesse was arrested in December of 2014 at New Jersey's Newark Liberty International Airport for possession of drugs when he was spotted by TSA agents while trying to throw away a small bag of marijuana. Later the same year, he had discovered that he suffered from a rare form of color blindness called achromatopsia, which is total color blindness. This is why most of The Neighbourhood's content is monochromatic, or in black and white.
For several years, Jesse was in an on-and-off relationship with American singer Anabel Englund before finally ending their relationship for good in 2014. On April 25th, 2015, Jesse began dating the co-founder of Wildflower Cases, Devon Carlson.
